The first time I heard a credit union leader call the industry the “first responders” of the pandemic, something clicked.
Credit unions are Member-first with people-helping-people at their core.
They show up with capital and compassion when it matters most.
I had the privilege of serving as a Senior Vice President at SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union—the nation’s 3rd largest credit union—as we grew from $19B to $36B in five years.
Being part of the senior leadership team as we reshaped our strategic and leadership ecosystems—including introducing StratOp® to evolve the organization’s strategic planning process—deepened my perspective on what it truly takes to align strategy, leadership, and execution at scale.
Now, as retirements, mergers, digital transformation, and shifting Member expectations reshape the landscape, an aligned and executable strategy is a Member imperative.

My years at Compassion International changed me.
I joined to help children around the world thrive. I stayed because I discovered a deeper calling— helping leaders and organizations reach their full potential too.
Leading across a complex and global footprint in 25 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and with global partners throughout Europe, Canada, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand taught me this:

My last name is Shepard (with an “A”), but I spelled it “Shepherd” to reflect the kind of steady, purposeful guidance I offer.

Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President of People and Development at SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, which grew from $19B to $36B during her tenure.
