PATERSON LIFEPLAN® PRIVATE RETREAT

For the Life You’re Meant to Live

You sense there’s more in you — and more that your life could become.

There is.

Paterson LifePlan® is a private two-day retreat for leaders who’ve reached a point where success isn’t enough anymore — where you’re ready to get honest about what matters, align your life to it, and finally answer the one question underneath all the others:

Why you’re here, and what you’re meant to do with the life you’ve been given.

“The untold want, by life and land ne’er granted, Now, Voyager, sail thou forth, to seek and find.”

— Walt Whitman, The Untold Want

Most People Never Ask

Most people go their whole lives without really asking why they're here.

Thoreau called it living lives of quiet desperation — busy, capable, accomplished, and still never quite sure what they're supposed to do with it all, or why any of it matters.

We think that's a tragedy.

Because when you know your purpose — really know it, not guess at it — everything else gets easier.

Decisions get clearer.

The noise quiets down.

You stop chasing what you think you're supposed to want and start building toward what you were actually made for.

LifePlan exists to help you discover that answer.

Competence got you here. Clarity will take you further.

WHO LIFEPLAN IS FOR

You have achieved a level of success but at certain moments in time and levels of achievement, deeper questions emerge:

Is the life I’m living built for who I actually am? And for what I want now?

The Paterson LifePlan® is a private, two-day retreat designed to discover your unique wiring and life purpose, align competing personal and professional priorities, and build an actionable blueprint for living a more purposeful life.

It’s for the person ready to answer that summons honestly — and do something about it.

Crossroads. Pivots. Longing.

You’ve outgrown the version of yourself that got you here.

That’s not a crisis. That’s a crossroads.

Usually it looks like one of three things:

01 / The Career Inflection

A role ended.

A promotion arrived (or didn’t) — and with it, bigger questions are circling.

You’ve built something you’re proud of and started asking whether it’s still the right thing.

You need absolute clarity on your next professional move before more time passes.

02 / The Life & Legacy Transition

Empty nest. Divorce. Retirement runway.

A business you’re ready to sell or step back from.

The next chapter deserves more rigorous design than the last one received.

You’re moving into a new phase — and you want to do so with intention, not by default.

03 / The Identity Disconnect

You’re highly competent at what you do, but you have outgrown the old parameters of success.

There’s a persistent inner knowing that you’re not yet living at the full height of what you were made for.

You’ve been following a map drawn ages ago, and you’re ready to design a playbook that honors your values, vision, and humanity.

WHAT MAKES LIFEPLAN DIFFERENT

Strategic Planning for Your Whole Life

LifePlan is not coaching, and it’s not therapy. It’s a proven strategic planning process brought to the most important subject of all: your life.

It began with a question a CEO asked Tom Paterson:

“You’ve helped me with my company. Can you help me figure out my life?”

LifePlan was built for that question.

We do not manufacture answers or hand you a prescribed version of success. Together, we look at the full landscape of your story, map your unique talents, and evaluate the four domains that shape your life: Personal, Family, Vocation, and Community.

Because the question that looks like a career question is rarely only about work.

  • 01

It starts with who you are, not what you do.

Before we begin planning your future, we take the time to understand the person living it: your natural gifts, your story, the patterns that have shaped you, and what has always been true about you beneath the roles and responsibiities.

  • 02

It covers your whole life, not just the professional part.

Personal. Family. Vocation. Community. LifePlan gives meaningful attention to all four because the answer to your career question is often hiding in another domain. And the source of any friction or frustration is often invisible until you see it in the context of everything else.

  • 03

You leave with a roadmap, not just insight.

Insight matters, but you also need to know what to do next. You leave with a written LifePlan for the next season of your life, grounded in who you are and honest about what matters now.

One Magnificent Life.

Two Private Days.

Day One — Perspective

Day One is about understanding who you are, how you got here, and what your life has been revealing all along.

Through guided tools and reflection, you begin to recognize the gifts, experiences, longings, and recurring patterns that have shaped your choices. You may name things you have sensed for years but have never had the space—or the right questions—to fully understand.

This is often where the circling begins to stop.

Led by Cassandra Shepard, a certified Paterson LifePlan Guide and former senior executive, your retreat is private, personal, and designed entirely for you.

No group sessions. No generic forms. Just two focused days of the most honest conversation you’ve probably ever had about your own life.

Day Two — Planning

Day Two is where it clicks.

We take everything Day One surfaced and turn it into intention — considering what you want across your personal life, family, vocation, and community, and translating that vision into priorities, decisions, and a plan for the season ahead.

You leave not with a fantasy life or an impossible list of goals, but with a written strategy that feels both deeply yours and genuinely livable.

You’ll leave with:

Your why.

The real answer to why you’re here — your unique gifts, the threads that have run through your whole story, the thing you were built to do. Most people never get this far. You won’t have to wonder anymore.

Clarity that actually holds up.

Not a fleeting insight that fades by Wednesday or when life or work gets crazy, but confidence you can trust about the decisions you’ve been circling, the transition you’re facing, or the question you haven’t said out loud yet.

A whole-life picture, not just a career plan.

Your personal life, your family, your work, your community — seen together, as one life, instead of a pile of things competing for your time.

A plan you can actually use.

Written. Specific. Yours. Something you can open on a hard Tuesday six months from now and still know exactly what you’re building toward.

Draw your own map.

Most people spend their lives waiting for clarity to arrive on its own.
